We went full-throttle this weekend with our Restaurant Week meal selections (and we were forced to take yesterday off from dining out to tackle some of the leftovers that had accumulated in the fridge), so we decided to head to a new neighborhood favorite for a meal that was a bit on the lighter side today.
The veggie-heavy menu caught our eye at The Westside Local -- and we figured our tummies could use a few fresh, fabulous greens after a weekend of rich, heavy, indulgent feasting.
We sampled the chilled Roasted Beet Salad, bursting (obviously) with color and freshness: pears, red onion, feta cheese, and apple cider honey vinaigrette accompanied a generous pile of gorgeous beets.
We also tasted the Local Raw Salad (winter greens, sunchokes, sweet onion, fennel, and fried ginger with a lemongrass vinaigrette) and eyed the vegetarian Split Pea Soup from afar. Really, you can't go wrong with any of the starters on the Restaurant Week menu here.
For our entree, we devoured the "Daily Saute" -- winter veggies over quinoa with a pleasant, not-too-heavy ginger sauce. We ate the whole thing and felt satisfied, not overstuffed (a first for R-Week!) and still had room to pluck some of the beautifully-seasoned crispy garlic fries from our lunch companion's plate.
Though we didn't try the Summit Burger (pictured here), it was reportedly perfectly cooked -- it seems fairly rare (ha!) that a burger actually comes correctly grilled to our requested specifications these days, but Westside Local got it right.
In fact, Westside Local got it right -- all the way across the board.
Gorgeous.....my mouth is watering! Not for the burger, though.
I agree wholeheartedly with the comments here. There are more, additional, dishes that deserve equal recommendation - a favorite of mine was the roast beef sandwich. The wine list is also well thought out and certainly accompanies the menu items perfectly.
I love the roast beef sandwich! But the cheese plates and the desserts are fabulous--and of course, for the beer lover, the marvelous variety is fun, fun, fun!
